The only pure white functional additive that is acicular (needle-like) in shape, wollastonite enhances the effectiveness of anticorrosion inhibitors in high performance coatings while increasing mechanical strength and weathering resistance.
Our high-tech WOLLASTOCOAT® pigments offer safe, cost-effective solutions to a range of complex formulation challenges. Among many other benefits, these functional additives allow significant elevation of the critical pigment volume concentration (CPVC) without increased viscosity and provide barrier properties in non-inhibitive systems.
In architectural coatings, wollastonite-based formulations have better initial brightness and color than coatings made with other additives, as well as reduced sheen with better burnish resistance. Wollastonite’s basicity prevents downward pH drift ensuring better stability and maintenance of viscosity.
